Kent is a recognized international tax law specialist whose practice focuses on global tax planning, compliance, and controversy matters.  

Kent's clients include entrepreneurs, executives, multi-national families, fiduciaries, technology start-ups, real estate ventures, public companies, and private equity funds.  His experience includes advising clients with complex tax structures involving domestic and foreign entities, corporations, partnerships, trusts, and charitable foundations.

Kent also regularly conducts forensic investigations of noncompliant offshore structures.  He advises clients on voluntary disclosure and the international tax aspects of IRS and DOJ criminal tax investigations. His expertise includes the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act and Title 31 anti-money laundering rules.  He frequently helps negotiate with the IRS in connection with the reduction of penalties for foreign bank account reporting. 

Kent has written numerous articles and lectured in the area of international taxation, as well as been called on as an expert witness.  He also has been an adjunct professor in the area of international tax treaties at Golden Gate University School of Law.

Kent is a member of the Society of Trusts and Estates Practitioner, the leading worldwide professional organization in the fields of trusts and estates with nearly 17,000 members in 80 countries.  Kent co-founded and was branch chair of the San Francisco STEP branch, in which he continues to be an active participant.  He also has been a member of the editorial board of the STEP US Journal and co-chair of the STEP Pacific Rim Conference.
